Group Tour
Sagada is a stunning destination. BUT it is definitely not a “plug-and-play” vacation.
Is it your first time visiting? Know that the town operates on a very specific set of local rules and natural constraints. Getting around can be difficult. There could be plenty of things to prepare.
That is why I recommend joining a tour. It is what I did the first time I visited Sagada. I joined a group tour with a few friends and other travelers.
What’s the outcome? I would not have it any other way! Everything was prepared already. All we had to do was enjoy the adventures. We got to feel the mystic vibes of the mountain town.
I have partnered with trusted brands to bring you that experience. Click any of the icon-links below to check them out.

DIY Adventure
I promised myself I’d go back one day. When I do, it’ll be a DIY trip. I have two main reasons for that.
- First, I want to spread the adventures out over more days.
- Second, the mountains are the perfect place to clear your head. You get healthy food, fresh air, and amazing views. I want to make sure I have enough time to actually enjoy all of it.
If that sounds like your kind of plan, a DIY trip is definitely the way to go. It gives you so much more freedom. Let me share some tips and tools to help you make it happen.
Getting there
The road trip to Sagada is a part of the adventure, and there are two main ways to get there.
You can hop on a direct bus from Manila or opt for the privacy of a car, whether you drive yourself or hire a professional. Either way, prepare for a long haul since the journey usually takes about 12 hours.
Going by bus is the more budget-friendly choice. Keep in mind that once you arrive, you’ll need to rely on local transport like chartered vehicles or motorcycles to see the sights.
If you prefer the flexibility of having your own wheels, a car is a fantastic option. Only make sure your accommodation offers dedicated parking, as leaving your vehicle on the street is strictly prohibited, especially around the town center.
Booking Your Bus Seats
Planning to take the bus? If you are visiting during the peak season (which includes holidays, long weekends, or the dry months between December and May) booking your seats in advance is a must.

Renting a Car or Hiring a Driver
Choosing to rent a car or hire a driver is a brilliant move for anyone traveling with a group of friends or family. It keeps your trip private and lets you move at your own pace. I recommend looking through different providers to find a deal that fits your budget.

Where to Stay
Finding the right place to stay in Sagada is usually a choice between various home stays, but there is actually a perfect spot for every type of traveler. I have handpicked a few favorites that offer something unique for your trip.
If you happen to be a fan of Lord of the Rings, you are going to love my first suggestion. 😉

Have you ever dreamed of stepping straight into a movie set?
Staying at The Shire of Sagada feels exactly like that because of its unique, fantasy inspired architecture. While the price is a bit higher than other local options and you need a short ride to get to the main town activities, staying here is an experience in its own that makes it worth the extra cost for a truly memorable stay.

If your priority is staying close to the action, Saint Joseph Inn is a fantastic choice. It sits right in the heart of town!
You will be steps away from the best local restaurants, transport hubs, and registration centers, which makes exploring very easy. The rooms are a bit more basic and the, but the unmatched convenience and affordable rates make it a top pick for practical travelers.

The Sagada Hotel is ideal if you prefer a hotel experience with modern amenities and professional service. It offers a level of comfort and privacy that can be hard to find in smaller guest houses.
Although it is located a little further from the town center, the quiet environment provides a peaceful retreat after a long day of hiking, provided you do not mind a slightly longer walk or a quick ride to get to the main shops.
