Our 3-day group trip to Sagada in 2018 is one I’ll never forget even though it wasn’t perfect.

Bad weather hit when we were supposed to see a sunrise above the clouds… We didn’t get enough sleep… We ran into a few issues during the trip, like not having enough power outlets in our homestay—THAT usually isn’t a big deal.

It’s not a problem, sometimes. But when it happens, it can get in the way or make you miss chances to enjoy the moment or save memories.

Device Charging Struggles on Group Trip

In our case, guess what, it really became a problem.

Our group brought plenty of devices… and we scrambled who got to charge their cameras, phones, power banks, and other gadgets right after we arrived at our homestay and every time we got back after an adventure!

A couple of my peers even brought bulky chargers, which made it harder to charge at the same time as others.

Yeah, picture those power outlets with slots that are too close to each other. Another charger can’t be plugged into the socket when the big one is already in.

Our solution? We took turns using the socket, which didn’t let us fully charge our devices.

In my case, I never had the chance to charge my power bank and phone up to 100% during that trip. Because of that, I missed taking videos of some of the beautiful moments. My phone’s battery was either dead or I was saving it for later in the day.

Well, to be honest, I didn’t really take those inconveniences very seriously because they’re nothing compared to the amazing experiences I had… and our group was pretty solid fun!

But that experience really taught me a lesson: I must bring at least an extension cord or a power adapter with multiple charging ports every time I travel with a group.

Group Travel Gadget & Charging Packing List

Now I’m telling you a friendly advice: If you’re traveling on a group soon, make sure to bring at least an extension cord (power strip) or a fast charger with multiple ports

Believe me, it’ll come in handy even just once, especially if you’re a techie traveler like me who brings at least three devices every trip: phone, power bank, and iPad or camera.

Sometimes, it’s not just the extension cords and power bricks you need to pack.

Traveling abroad? Don’t forget the power socket adapter. Don’t want your cables tangling like a bunch of angry noodles? A cable organizer or pouch helps a lot. Bringing expensive gadgets? A travel-size surge protector is a must.

Here’s a packing list of devices and charging tools for your group travel.

Don’t Let a Dead Battery Ruin the Trip

Having your devices fully charged before leaving your hotel or homestay is a must.

A full charge helps your phone and other gadgets last through maps, messages, payments, photos, and emergencies. It also saves you from stressing out or wasting time hunting for a charging spot or dealing with the hassle of dangling wires from your power bank while you’re out exploring.

If you don’t have something on my list, grab your own gadget now.
