Bohol Guided Day Tour
Quick links:
Thinking of spending a day in Bohol like we did?
For a worthwhile one-day experience, a guided tour of the island is what you need. That’s exactly what we did when we visited Bohol during our 5-day Central Visayas trip. As first timers, we could not have done it any other way. In addition to visiting iconic spots like the Chocolate Hills and the Tarsier Sanctuary, the itinerary kept every moment interesting.
For example, instead of eating lunch at a regular restaurant, we took a Loboc River cruise with music, cultural performances, and scenic river views.
All in all, there were no hassles with public transportation transfers or booking separate entry tickets. We simply enjoyed the whole day from start to finish.

Self-Guided Bohol Trip
If you are exploring Bohol on your own or spending a few days on the island, let me break down the essential details for you. I will cover getting there, getting around, where to stay, top experiences, and having peace of mind.
Flights & Ferries
Quick links:
Let us start with the first big step, which is getting to Bohol. Keep in mind that Bohol has an international airport, but international flights are rare. For the most options, your best bet is flying into Manila or Cebu first.
From Manila, you can take a quick flight to Bohol. From Cebu, you can take a ferry. Some travelers exploring Central Visayas even fly into Siquijor from Manila and take the ferry to Bohol, which works okay too.
Click the menu below to find flights or ferry tickets.
If you’re coming from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, flying straight to Bohol-Panglao International Airport takes about an hour and a half. I recommend booking an early morning flight. Manila airport gets heavily congested and flights easily get delayed during midday, which happened to us.
Hit that button below and let’s lock in your perfect flight.
Alternatively, click or tap the icons of your favorite travel brands to shop around for more flights and see who has the best deal.
The fastest and most reliable way to get to Bohol from Cebu is by high-speed ferry, and either OceanJet or SuperCat will get you there. Travel time is right around two hours. This is how we traveled between Bohol and Cebu during our Central Visayas vacation, and the ride went smoothly from start to finish.
Ferry companies offer three ticket tiers to choose from: Economy, Tourist, or Business class. I recommend upgrading to Tourist class for a much more comfortable experience.
Secure your tickets early so you can grab the exact departure time that fits your schedule. Hit the button below to check out the details and lock in your seats.

Siquijor is another beautiful island in Central Visayas, and taking a high speed ferry is easily your best option to get over to Bohol. The trip takes right around two hours on a typical day. Upgrading to Tourist Class tickets is definitely the way to go for a comfortable ride.
Make sure to book weeks in advance, especially during holidays and peak season, so you can lock in your preferred departure time.

Airport & Ferry Port Transfers
Quick links:
Whether you arrive in Bohol through the airport or sea port, public transport options are ready to get you to your hotel so you can finally kick off your trip.
Coming from the airport? Taxis wait right outside. You can also catch an hourly bus to the main city terminal. From there, plenty of jeepneys and tricycles can take you the rest of the way. Coming from the sea port? Same deal. Public transit lines up right by the pier.
Keep in mind, landing late at night or early in the morning means most public transit stops running. If you arrive during the peak season, tourist crowds quickly snap up remaining rides, turning a taxi search into a long waiting hassle.
Booking a private transfer ahead of time saves you from all that stress. It ensures you arrive at your hotel fresh and on schedule for your first itinerary stop.
Click the menu below to choose the transfer service that best suits your needs.
Traveling solo, backpacking with your partner, or keeping an eye on your budget? A shared transfer is exactly what you need. Click the buttons below to lock in your seat.
Flying in and traveling with a group, or just looking for exclusive, hassle-free service? A private transfer is exactly what you need. Click the buttons below to discover amazing private transfer deals.

Car Rentals
Quick links:
For most travelers, public transportation is enough to get around the island. Buses serve almost all major highways in Bohol. Grab is available in busier areas. Tricycles can get you anywhere, although you must be good at haggling for fares.
BUT there’s no better and more convenient way to make the most of your trip, especially if you have very limited time in Bohol, than to use a private vehicle.
During our visit, we rode in our private van for the day tour, and when it comes to moving from one attraction to another, having your own wheels is definitely the best way to explore the island. We literally had no downtime and were able to see everything on our itinerary without feeling rushed, which is exactly what makes it worth the price.
So yeah, I highly recommend renting a car with a driver, especially if you are traveling with your family and friends.
