During our Northern Vietnam trip, we stayed in Sapa (or Sa Pa) for two days. The bad weather could have been a letdown, but our stay at Bamboo Sapa Hotel, with its breathtaking views, more than made up for it. Definitely recommended.
Accommodation
Sapa Bamboo Hotel
We loved this hotel not just for its panoramic mountain views but also because it’s within walking distance of the town center. Convenient and scenic. 100% a must-try.
Topas Ecolodge Sapa
Ah, my dream stay in Sapa. Did you know it is one of the top three best resorts in Asia? (Awarded by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2025)

Getting There
In my guide to traveling from Hanoi to Sapa, I mentioned a few options, but for me, the most convenient are these: a sleeper bus if you’re traveling solo or as a couple, and a private car if you’re in a group.
Sleeper Bus
Hop on a sleeper bus in Hanoi, catch some sleep, and you’ll be in Sapa in just 5 or 6 hours. You even save a night’s hotel stay. Smart, right? That’s exactly what we did. Give it a try! Round trips are available.
Private Car
If you’re traveling as a group and want a convenient and safe way to get around Sapa while saving costs, hiring a car with a driver is ideal.

Experiences
You can tell from my Sapa map that there’s a lot to see and do, but from my personal experience, past travels to similar destinations, and research, these are the most unique experiences Sapa has to offer.
