Why I Skipped the Activities in Sky Experience Adventure in Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu

Before you go, read my honest take on Sky Experience Adventure. I have included tips from our experience if you want to include them in your plan to visit Cebu.

In our five-day trip to Central Visayas, which included one day in Bohol and four days in Cebu, we made the Sky Experience Adventure the final stop on our itinerary. We went there right after visiting the picture-perfect scenic spots up in the Cebu City highlands.

The reason behind that is not saving the best for last. It actually came down to convenience.

Compared to the other attractions on our itinerary, Sky Experience Adventure was the closest to the airport. We figured we wouldn’t have to stress about making it to our flight on time if we were coming from a place right there in the city.

The thing is, out of all the places we went to, Sky Experience Adventure was the one I enjoyed the least on the trip. Not because it was boring or anything. I think my friends had a good time. It also wasn’t because we had a bad experience. There were no maintenance issues, crowds, or anything like that while we were there.

I think I didn’t have much fun because Sky Experience Adventure only appeals to certain types of travelers and I was not one of them.

Summary

To give perspective, Sky Experience Adventure is a mini amusement park on top of the Crown Regency Hotel, one of the tallest buildings in Cebu City. This high-rise sits right along Osmeña Boulevard near Fuente Osmeña Circle, putting it in the middle of all the action.

Thanks to that amazing height and central spot, it easily becomes the best place in town to grab a beautiful 360-degree view of Metro Cebu.

Being an amusement park on top of a building, you can expect some cool activities to get your heart racing, although there are only a few options available. The main highlights are:

  • Sky Walk Extreme where you walk across a transparent glass floor right on the edge of the skyscraper,
  • Edge Coaster which is a two seat ride that tilts 45 degrees so you can look straight down at the ground as it moves around the building, and
  • Tower Zip which is a high flying zip line that lets you soar right in the middle of the city.

Is Sky Adventure Experience Worth It?

Of the three highlights, I skipped every single one.

I’m not trying to put down what Sky Adventure Experience has to offer, but honestly, if you’re like me and you’ve been to other amusement parks like Disneyland, Universal Studios, or even Enchanted Kingdom near Manila and ridden intense roller coasters like Battlestar Galactica, you shouldn’t expect the activities here to thrill you.

Right when I saw the pictures and videos of the activities on the TV by the front desk, I knew it wasn’t for me. I felt underwhelmed.

I realized it might be better to spend my money on souvenirs for my family and friends back home instead of on these attractions, so that is exactly what I did.

Anyway, what I actually enjoyed was watching my friends look anxious but excited during the adventures while I stayed inside the building and watched them through the large glass windows.

They did not have funny expressions the whole time, but when they did, I could not help but laugh.

Apart from watching my friends enjoy the activities, I also volunteered to take photos of them whenever I could.

Sky Adventure Experience actually had official guides and facilitators taking photos of everyone. But getting a copy of those pictures, whether printed or digital, was pretty expensive.

Since I want to be a good friend, I took on the extra role of photographer to help preserve those great memories for free, haha!

The first thing they tried was the Sky Walk and for this part, I could only take photos from the waiting area.

Later on, I found out that the observation deck is completely free for everyone and the Edge Coaster passes right in front of it. So when my friends tried the Edge Coaster, I headed straight to that observation deck. It worked out perfectly because I got awesome close up shots of them as they zoomed right past me.

Speaking of the observation deck, I saw telescopes which you can use to zoom in to different parts of the city. You should definitely try them to make the most of your time in Sky Experience Adventure.

With all that said, Sky Adventure Experience is nice to try for some cases, like if it’s your first time trying these kinds of activities. It is also perfect if you are traveling with friends and want to have fun together.

Or maybe you want to overcome a fear of heights without taking huge risks like you would out in the mountains. Imagine walking on transparent glass while being completely secured with a safety harness.

This attraction is also a good option if you have some spare time during your trip to Cebu.

While I did not enjoy much, I appreciate it for giving my friends some fun. Definitely, we wouldn’t have made the most of our last day in Cebu City without visiting Sky Adventure.

Tips

What was so nice during our visit to Sky Adventure Experience was we had the place almost entirely to ourselves.

There were no other tourists around except for a couple doing the Sky Walk. That meant absolutely no lines and zero waiting time.

The timing of our visit was definitely a big factor here. We arrived around 12 or 1 PM right after having an early lunch at the House of Lechon. Since it was lunchtime, everyone else was probably eating somewhere else, leaving the whole attraction to us.

Now, if you’re still planning your trip to Cebu, I highly recommend spending more time in South Cebu because that is where you will find the ultimate adventures and natural attractions.

We tried canyoneering in Kawasan Fallssnorkeling to see the sardine run in Moalboal, and whale shark watching in Oslob. Honestly, I cannot recommend them enough. They are absolutely unmissable experiences. Read my other posts about them to see just how amazing these activities are.

Enjoy your trip!
